Overview

Enhance your ZSP based product development and testing using this two channel audio development system. The HP402CS provides stereo audio input and output for the advanced DT402EB evaluation board with access to all ZSP 402ZX peripherals and external memory.  The external SB-USB2-ZSP JTAG emulator allows for very fast development process, and the HPI-USB2 interface provides of up to 4M bytes of the real-time data transfer between the ZSP host port and the host PC.

In addition, sample projects for ZViewIDE and a helpful user guide are also provided.

Description

The HP402CS is a high performance audio development kit containing the DT402EB evaluation board, the DT4218DB audio board, HPI-USB2 for data transfer, SB-USB2-ZSP emulator. 

The DT402EB   features the 402ZX 200 MHz ZSP with 256K words of external SRAM and 512K words of external Flash, a programmable CPLD (Lattice LC4128V) containing external memory decode logic, LCD and LED controllers, a 16-bit user I/O controller, and a rotary switch for selection of the ZSP operating frequency. Built in are two serial port connectors and an external host port interface. The DT402EB has either an external power supply or utilizes the USB.

The DT4218DB features the Cirrus Logic CS4218 16-bit stereo Delta-Sigma Codec. With two external clock sources, it supports sampling rates of 48 8 kHz and 44.1 - 7.35 kHz. It features stereo line level output and a user selectable option of stereo line level input/ dual microphone. The microphone circuit supports electret microphones with bias voltage and pre-amp module. The board features an 8-bit microcontroller providing an I2C interface to the ZSP, a controlling oscillator selection as well as programming of the codec operating features.

The SB-USB2-ZSP JTAG emulator provides high performance access to the JTAG port of the ZPS. The USB2 interface provides for fast transfer of data to/from the host PC; the JTAG scan engine, implemented in the FPGA, provides fast access to the software or hardware emulation protocol of the ZSP devices. The emulator's test clock (TCK) frequency can be configured between 32kHz and 10MHz. The JTAG interface can be configured to operate with logic levels of 3.3V, 2.5V, or 1.8V.

The HPI-USB2 interface is based on the USB2 interface device from PLX and the 16 bit, 40 MHz microcontroller from Freescale Semiconductor. It operates in the Intel host port strobe mode and allows for continuous data transfer at rates up to 4M bytes per second.

Pre-programmed, sample applications are provided for use with ZViewIDE ; the Integrated Development Environment is a windows based, open, industry supported, extensible software development environment which provides a compiler, linker, source code project manager, editors, and a ZSP target debugger. 


 

Demo Software

Utilize the demo software, sources included, to test the CS4218 chip on the DT4218DB audio daughterboard. The Graphical user interface of the demo monitors incoming waveforms and displays their amplitude values.  For more information on the demo software, please review the Users Guide: dt4218db_ug.pdf (453 KB).
